Markcus Lawson

Tift County Schools is thrilled to welcome Markcus Lawson to the Blue Devil Family! At tonight’s board meeting, Mr. Lawson was approved as the Principal of Charles Spencer Elementary for the 2025–2026 school year.

A native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Mr. Lawson brings a wealth of experience and dedication to education. He began his teaching career at Worth County High School in Sylvester after earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He later completed his teaching certification through GaTAPP and went on to teach at Howard High School in Bibb County.

Mr. Lawson has spent the last five years serving as an administrator in Bibb County, demonstrating a strong commitment to student achievement and school improvement. His academic journey includes a Master’s Degree in Biology, a Graduate Certificate in Emerging Infectious Diseases, and both Tier 1 and Tier 2 leadership certifications, earned from Kennesaw State University and the University of West Georgia, respectively. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate at Liberty University.
