TCHS Student Council members put their hearts into action with Loads of Love, a special initiative to support middle school students in need. Each student council member received a list and a budget to shop for one of 20 students—10 from each middle school—carefully selecting 2-3 essential items and 2-3 wish-list items for each recipient. Through their efforts, student council members not only provided much-needed supplies but also brought a little extra joy to these middle school students' lives. Basic Ag students are learning about soils! Students learned how to identify sand, silt, and clay by observing a soil sample. Students then set up a soil sample in a jar by adding water and shaking. Once the jar sits for a few days, the layers of sand, silt, and clay will settle. Students will then measure them to find the percentages and determine the soil texture! #4theT #CTAEdelivers #LetsGrowTogether

Horticulture students conducted a lab activity to learn effective watering techniques. Students watered a flat of soil over cups to see how watering techniques affect overall water absorption in the soil. Take a sneak peek at the plants they are raising for a plant sale! 🎨🎭🔧 Yesterday, four members of the Tifton Art Council toured the Fine Arts and CTAE wings at TCHS! Led by Dr. Slaven, Dr. Gilman, and Mr. Bowyer, the tour included visits to the choral and band rooms, the Performing Arts Center, and various CTAE classrooms and labs. 🍽️ The visit concluded with a delicious lunch prepared by Mrs. Ridgeway's Family and Consumer Science class. Council members were truly impressed by the warm hospitality of our staff and students, as well as the incredible Fine Arts and CTAE opportunities available to our school community. The Georgia Department of Correction's Turner Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center welcomed 17 students from Southern Regional Technical College Criminal Justice Department, led by Instructors Mr. Benjie Nobles and Adrian Holt. This event, proudly hosted by the Georgia Department of Corrections, was designed to give students an inside look at correctional facility operations, rehabilitation programs, and the dedicated professionals who make it all happen. After the presentations, students were given a guided tour of the facility, providing them with a firsthand look at the operations and environment within Turner RSAT. Tift County Baseball hosted the GA-FL Border Wars Tournament this weekend, and our Blue Devils came out strong! 🔥 Friday they defeated Baker County 3-2 in the tournament opener. 🔥 Saturday the closed out the tournament with a 7-2 win over West Nassau. Students in Ms. Day's Intro to Cybersecurity class got hands-on experience comparing common computer operating systems thanks to Cyber.org and their partnership with CISA (Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency). With access to virtual machines through Cyber.org, students explored operating systems beyond those installed on their physical computers. Some worked inside a Windows virtual machine, while others experimented with both text-based and GUI (Graphical User Interface) operations on different systems. Floral Design students have been learning to identify and utilize different tools in the florist industry. Students practiced using floral tape to make flower pencils. When learning about florist's wire, students learned how to make boutonnieres. Students practiced using wire and floral tape to create flower crowns.
