🚓 SRTC (Tifton) Criminal Justice TCC Students Explore Law Enforcement in Action 👮♂️🔍
SRTC (Tifton) Criminal Justice TCC students from Tift County High School recently participated in a hands-on field trip as part of their Criminal Procedures course. Their visit to the Warner Robins Police Department offered an in-depth look at real-world law enforcement operations.
Students toured multiple areas of the department, including the interrogation and interview rooms, roll call and observation rooms, property intake, weapons testing area, forensics and trace labs, evidence holding area, and booking area. They also had the opportunity to practice latent print lifting, gaining valuable forensic experience.
Throughout the day, students learned about officers’ roles in the community, arrest powers, training, qualifications, and the many responsibilities involved in criminal justice procedures. They viewed training videos and engaged in discussions with Jail Detention Officers about their essential roles in the justice system.
Before departing, students toured the holding cells and paddy wagon, and each student received a Challenge Coin along with other souvenirs for their participation.

The case centers on a civil lawsuit in which an injured passenger is suing a teen driver for negligence after a serious crash. Students will examine key legal questions, including whether the driver was distracted by texting, intoxicated, or otherwise breached their duty of care—ultimately causing the plaintiff’s severe injuries.
Participants will analyze witness testimony, phone records, and accident-scene evidence before the trial concludes with a jury deliberation on liability and damages. This hands-on experience highlights the very real consequences of distracted driving and the importance of responsible decision-making behind the wheel.

To wrap up our first semester, Tift County CTI students took part in Georgia CTI Pre-Employment Training with Dr. Tonja Cummings Tift.
Students explored the importance of good hygiene and overall body care—not only for staying work-ready 💼 but also for preventing illness 🤧. Dr. Tift encouraged everyone to build morning and nighttime routines that fit their schedules, reminding them that wellness impacts not just themselves but the people around them 🤝.
They also learned how grooming connects directly to professionalism, as well as the value of honest communication with friends, even when difficult conversations arise. Dr. Tift emphasized that poor hygiene can close doors to future opportunities.
Students reviewed how healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices influence mood, energy, and long-term success 💪. Food truly is medicine, and nourishing the body is key to feeling and performing your best 👍.
No matter the career whether a farmer, custodian, teacher, barber, or any other profession, professionalism matters. And it all begins with good hygiene and a healthy lifestyle.

Through this partnership, students will have increased access to licensed mental health professionals who can provide counseling and support —right here in our school community. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to the well-being of every student and to creating safe, supportive environments where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are grateful for this opportunity to work together in supporting the whole child.
