The GA-051 JROTC Unit embarked on an exciting field trip to Moody Air Force Base for the “Saluting Our Aviation Roots” (SOAR) event!

Our cadets had an incredible opportunity to explore various military aircraft up close and see emergency support equipment in action. They also interacted with a wide range of military professionals, including Pilots, Combat Systems Officers, Special Mission Aviators, Pararescue Jumpers (PJ), Maintainers, Firefighters, Security Forces, Medical Technicians, representatives from FSU Air Force ROTC Detachment 145, and members of the Civil Air Patrol.

This firsthand experience provided valuable insight into aviation careers, military service, and the vital roles that support our Armed Forces. Most importantly, our cadets had a fantastic time learning, asking questions, and gaining a deeper appreciation for those who serve.

Thank you to Moody AFB and all participants who made this memorable experience possible! 🇺🇸✈️

🧪 Lab Spotlight: Abiotic Influences on Brine Shrimp 🦐

Students dove into the scientific method with a hands-on investigation exploring how abiotic factors impact living organisms! In this lab, students created environmental gradients to test how brine shrimp respond to changes in temperature, pH, and light.

Working in teams, they carefully set up controlled experimental conditions, ensuring one variable changed while others remained constant. After allowing the shrimp to move freely along the gradient, students collected and analyzed data to determine which environmental conditions the organisms preferred.

This lab challenged students to:
🔬 Design and conduct a controlled experiment
📊 Collect and interpret real data
🧠 Understand the importance of control groups
🌎 Explore how environmental factors influence survival

By the end, students gained a deeper understanding of how organisms respond to their environment—and how scientists use evidence to draw meaningful conclusions.

Great job applying critical thinking and teamwork in the lab! 👏

Students in Mrs. Alexander’s and Mrs. Staines’ Forensic Science classes took part in a hands-on Breathalyzer Lab last week! 🧪

During the activity, students used mouthwash and then measured their Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) using a breathalyzer. This engaging lab allowed students to observe how substances containing alcohol can temporarily impact BAC readings.

The experience reinforced real-world forensic science concepts related to toxicology, evidence analysis, and impaired driving investigations, helping students connect classroom learning to practical applications in the field.

Hands-on learning in action! 👏🔬

Mrs. Dawson’s Marketing & Entrepreneurship students have been hard at work during their Marketing Research Unit, diving into the debate of generic vs. name-brand products! 🛍️📊

Students brought in everyday items and challenged their classmates to see if they could tell the difference—without packaging or labels. Through interview-style questioning, they gathered authentic consumer responses and then rolled up their sleeves to analyze the data from their research.

From taste tests to thoughtful surveys, this hands-on activity gave students a real-world look at consumer perception, branding, and data-driven decision-making; exactly what marketers do every day!

So proud of their curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking as they put marketing concepts into action! 👏✨
