Mrs. Shirah's class enjoyed a movie and snow cones!

Mrs. J. Drawdy’s 1st graders have been busy getting into the holiday spirit! 🎄📚 They enjoyed reading Christmas poems while learning about the elements of poetry, and topped off their learning with a sweet activity by creating Christmas trees using sugar cones, green icing, and M&Ms! Learning is always sweeter when it’s fun. 😊

Mrs. Godwin’s 1st grade class had a fun, hands-on lesson learning about graphs and using tally marks with colorful Fruit Loops! Learning is always sweeter when math is involved.

Olivia's mom came today to read a Christmas story to the children in Mrs. Godwin's 1st grade classroom.

Dawsyn’s mom read us a Christmas story, and then we made ornaments. We had a blast! Thank you, Mrs. Bass!

Friday, our word was ELF. Mrs. Vickery from Kindergarten won a Three Chicks and a Hen gift card and Ms. Cone won a Chicken Salad Chick card. Thank you Three Chicks and a Hen and Chicken Salad Chick for your generous donation. GOB staff appreciates it!

Please be aware that G.O. Bailey Elementary will remain on soft lockdown until the end of the day. Students will be dismissed at the normal time today. Car pickup will be limited to one lane, so please be patient and anticipate car rider dismissal will be a little delayed today. Buses will be dismissed at their regular times. Parents of students who ride buses and live in the affected neighborhood areas are being contacted directly; if you have not heard directly from the school, anticipate your child’s route home will not be impacted.

We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this situation. The safety and security of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Out of an abundance of caution, G O Bailey Elementary is currently on a soft lockdown due to a situation in the neighborhood near the school. System security personnel remain in contact with local law enforcement. We will update when the school has resumed normal operations. #4theT

From now until Christmas Break GOB staff will be having a little Christmas fun. Each day staff will be asked to “Guess the Word.” If they guess the word correctly from a list of hints, they will be entered into a drawing to win gift cards local businesses have graciously donated. Today our word was TREE 🌲! Fourth Grade teacher, Mrs. King won an El Cazador gift card and Third Grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson, won a Chicken Salad Chick gift card!
